Between March 6-8, 2013, at the ATO Congresium Congress Center, under the auspices of the Undersecretariat of Defence Industry, and organized by the OSTİM Defence and Aerospace Cluster (OSSA) and the French organization BCI, the Industrial Cooperation Days in Defence and Aerospace (ICDDA) brought together leading names from the global defence and aerospace industry with Turkish companies in Turkey.
The three-day event, held for the first time this year, began with a conference titled "A Panorama of the Defense, Aerospace, and Offset Printing Market in Turkey." On the second and third days, attendees had the opportunity to conduct bilateral business meetings. Additionally, workshops were held on original equipment manufacturers' purchasing processes and supply chain policies. On the final day, participants also had the chance to take part in an industrial tour.
Organized by OSSA, the event, which was held with the concept of bilateral business meetings for the first time in the defense sector in Turkey, OSSA has been operating since 2008 with the aim of increasing the share of domestic production in meeting the needs of the defense and aerospace sectors and making its member SMEs competitive in the international market.
With 113 member SMEs and a capacity of over 2,600 personnel, the cluster, which is growing and strengthening every day, has joined forces with BCI, a world-renowned French organizing company that has been successfully organizing conferences and bilateral business meetings worldwide for 25 years, bringing together giant companies of the global defense and aerospace sector with Turkish companies.
The event, which saw the participation of over 200 companies from 20 countries and facilitated more than 4,000 bilateral business meetings, was notable for the high participation of both main and subcontractor companies from abroad. Domestic main industry companies such as TAI, TEI, MKEK, ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, HAVELSAN, and FNSS, as well as numerous subcontractors, participated. The event also included major international companies and clusters such as EADS, EADS Sogerma, MBDA, LATECOERE, AERAZUR ZODIAC, BOEING, TAWAZUN, EATON, KADDB, AIRBUS, AUGUSTA WESTLAND, FINMECCANICA GROUP SERVICES, Torino Piemonte Aerospace, Plansee Tungsten Alloys, Goldon, Agora Consulting, Aerospace Valley, Blufield, and UBIFRANCE.
The Undersecretariat of Defence Industries, foreseeing that this organization would create an important environment, fully supported the event with the belief that it would be a technology platform enabling local and international companies to establish new business networks and seize cooperation opportunities.
