The third ICDDA event, the first of which was held on March 6-8, 2013 and awarded the "2014 Defense Industry Special Award" by the Undersecretariat of Defense Industry, took place in Ankara on October 11-13, 2016, under the auspices of the Undersecretariat of Defense Industry and organized by the OSTİM Defense and Aerospace Cluster. Considering the conditions in our country at that time, the event received much greater demand than expected and achieved greater success than the previous two events. 200 companies representing the defense and aerospace sector from 33 countries participated. Participating companies had the opportunity to conduct a total of 5,400 business meetings with selected companies over the three days.
Many important international companies such as GIFAS, AIRBUS DEFENSE AND SPACE, BOEING, DASSAULT SYSTEMS, EADS, LEONARDO GROUP, LOCKHEED MARTIN, MBDA, NAVANTIA, ROLLS-ROYCE, SIKORSKY, and THALES participated in the event; while major Turkish industrial companies such as TAI, ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, FNSS, ISTANBUL SHIPYARD, OTOKAR, and ROKETSAN also took part. The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Turkey, Şuay Alpay; the Undersecretary of Defence Industry, Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir; the President of the Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO), Nurettin Özdebir; the Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSTİM, Orhan Aydın; the General Manager of TAI, Muharrem Dörtkaşlı; representatives from our armed forces commands; relevant ministry officials; foreign military attachés; commanders; and numerous representatives from the public and private sectors.
