Under the coordination of the OSTİM Defence and Aerospace Cluster (OSSA), the Head of the Secretariat of Defence Industries (SSB), Prof. Dr. Haluk Gorgun, Vice Presidents, main industry companies, subcontractors, and SMEs came together at the Sectoral Consultation Meeting held in the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Conference Hall.
Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Directorate, drew attention to the importance of the defense and aerospace ecosystem formed in OSTİM with the location of the main defense industry companies in Ankara. Aydın said, "We need to replicate the successful story we've achieved in the defense industry on the civilian side as well. We are trying to do our part in the defense industry."
Aydın, providing information about OSTİM's establishment, noted that OSTİM has been working for domestic and national production since its inception. Inspired by Vecihi Hürkuş, Aydın recalled the saying, "Those who try to fly with the wings of others cannot become Hürkuş (a mythical bird)."
OSSA Chairman Ibrahim Yarsan pointed out that long-term orders from main contractors would motivate SMEs. Yarsan said, "There is no future without production. As SMEs, we will continue the struggle."
Presidential Defence Industry Director Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün expressed his pleasure at being in OSTİM. Görgün said, “Since the establishment of our Presidency, which set out with the main mission of developing our defense industry and modernizing our security forces, significant steps have been taken to fulfill this mission, together with our ecosystem and the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone. As of today, our products successfully serve both our security forces and friendly and allied countries in different geographies internationally.”
