Roketsan officials, meeting with defense industry firms from OSTİM under the organization of the Defense and Aerospace Cluster, explained working conditions to subcontractors.
The 4th OSTİM Main Industry Days sharing meeting was held in the Conference Hall of the OSTİM Administrative Building. The meeting, which hosted Roketsan, a giant in Turkey's defense industry, detailed the demands Roketsan makes on its subcontractors. The sharing meeting, attended by Roketsan General Manager Hüseyin Baysak, Supply Manager Nevzat Çağlayan, and Subcontractor Management Manager Şule Alataş, began with a speech by OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Board Chairman Orhan Aydın.
"OSTİM is a true industrial zone."
Aydın, explaining to Roketsan officials that they are trying to differentiate OSTİM from many other industrial zones, said, “We are not a crowded mass; we are truly an industrial zone. We have several organizations that create this difference. We provide various infrastructure services to make the companies in our region more competitive. We produce our own energy and make it available to our companies at a low cost. OSTİM Investment, ODAGEM, ODEM, our clustering system, our foundation, and many other organizations serve to support the companies in this region.”
Aydın stated that the presence of companies producing for the defense industry in OSTİM today is due to the interest shown in OSTİM by large companies such as Aselsan, TAI, and Roketsan, and continued: “We are grateful to these companies because they came here, met with our companies, asked what they could and couldn't do, and offered to help us improve in areas where we couldn't. This interest has resulted in the formation of companies serving the defense industry here. Currently, OSTİM has companies with a high standard of quality, the capacity to produce high-quality products, and the ability to understand what is being said.”
Baysak: "Working with you is very important for our organization."
Following Aydın's speech, Roketsan General Manager Hüseyin Baysak stated that Roketsan takes great pride in sharing the projects they undertake with subcontractors. He emphasized that knowing the OSTİM brand is behind these companies makes them extremely happy, and continued: “Our business volume continues to grow day by day, but we cannot keep pace with this growth. We don't want to repeat the investments you make at Roketsan. Therefore, working with you as subcontractors is vital for our organization. When working with you, we don't just want to see you as a source of supply. We want to see you as a business partner who shares the responsibility for the projects we undertake with us.”

Roketsan Subcontractor Management Director Şule Alataş also explained Roketsan's working conditions and demands with subcontractors at the meeting. Alataş stated that Roketsan now absolutely needs to work with subcontractors to successfully complete the projects it undertakes, saying, "We need to be able to hand over the work to you from the design stage and receive turnkey products from you." Alataş continued: "There are companies from very different fields in the cluster in OSTİM; we want to work with every company whose subject matter is suitable. There is no advantage in us having the same equipment as you. The main contractor can maintain its existence and operations without subcontractors, but without you, the work is much more difficult. Therefore, you will win, we will win. We will create mutual benefit and value."
Alataş also touched upon the issues that companies wishing to become subcontractors should pay attention to, stating that they primarily require companies to thoroughly examine and confirm the order and to produce according to the quantities specified in the order. Adding that not only production but also delivery is very important, Alataş continued as follows:
“The delivery phase is very critical for us; we want on-time deliveries. So, if you confirm something, we want you to act accordingly. We want you to deliver to the region we specify. Proper packaging is also important at this point. And quality is our absolute priority. We require you to deliver the quality control documents along with the product. No matter how many products you produce, if you don't have the quality control documents for those products, our quality control unit won't accept them. Therefore, what we produce will just sit in your warehouses.”
Following the meeting, Roketsan officials visited EMGE Koll. Şti., Epsilon and EMD Medikal companies in OSTİM and received information about their production processes.
