OSTİM Defence and Aerospace Cluster (OSSA) has prepared a comprehensive competency and capability guide to help SMEs operating in the defence, aerospace and space industry to secure new business from domestic and international companies and institutions.
Establishing strong supply chains is critical in the defense, aerospace, and defense industries. Strengthening and expanding the supply triangle primarily depends on accurately identifying the capabilities and competencies of suppliers and identifying the right supplier to meet our needs.
According to information obtained by an AA correspondent, OSSA, stemming from this need, compiled information about SMEs in the defense and aerospace industry that possess many capabilities, in order to better explain their developing skills and capabilities to domestic and foreign institutions, organizations and firms. This information includes details about the companies they work with domestically and internationally, the countries they export to, their achievements, areas of operation, certifications, raw materials they work with, and the number of employees, thus creating a reliable database.
In order to make all these competencies and capabilities accessible to both major industrial firms and institutions in Türkiye, as well as to foreign firms and institutions, OSSA conducted a detailed and lengthy study. The resulting detailed OSSA SME member catalog and capabilities guide will contribute to the functioning of the defense, aviation, and space procurement ecosystem.
The catalog was shared with major industrial firms and institutions in Türkiye, purchasing, supply chain and project officials of foreign firms and institutions in OSSA's international network, as well as Turkish attachés.
OSSA also distributed its catalog to participants at the international organizations it attended. The catalog was displayed at the digital OSSA stand at the Kuala Lumpur International Aerospace Business Convention Online B2B and Aeromart Toulouse Digital 2020 events, and was also given to the representatives of the companies with whom B2B meetings were held.
OSSA has over 260 member companies, primarily based in Ankara, but also including Balıkesir, Bursa, Istanbul, Izmir, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Konya, Manisa, and Mersin, employing nearly 10,000 people and representing more than 50 different business sectors.
R&D/design, software, composites, electronics, electromechanics, cabling, machining, sheet metal forming, surface treatment, testing/calibration, coating/painting, optical systems, hydraulic systems, machine/equipment manufacturing, and unmanned systems, as well as the production of many end products and subsystems for land, air, and sea platforms, are among the capabilities and competencies of OSSA members.
