OSSA, an association of SMEs producing goods or services in the defense and aerospace sectors, has recently welcomed 38 companies with diverse areas of expertise.
In Ankara, which forms the heart of the defense and aerospace industry, SMEs operating in this field are undertaking important responsibilities. SMEs that have come together under the umbrella of the OSTİM Defense and Aerospace Cluster (OSSA) are both increasing their capabilities and strengthening their collaborations.
With the increase in domestic and national production in the defense and aerospace sector, there is a growing need for SMEs capable of designing, developing, and manufacturing systems to support main contractors.
A series of initiatives are being undertaken under the leadership of the Presidency of Defense Industry to enable SMEs to acquire these qualifications. In addition, SMEs are trying to increase their capabilities both through their own resources and through organizations such as clusters that they form by coming together.
OSSA, one of Türkiye's most important defense and aerospace clusters, plays a significant role in meeting these needs.
Established in 2008 as a collaborative effort by SMEs producing goods or services in the defense and aerospace sectors, OSSA has become a significant player in the industry over time.
Defense and aerospace industry revenues constitute a significant portion of the turnover of the cluster's member SMEs. OSSA, whose members include approved subcontractors of major industry firms such as ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, Turkish Aerospace Industries, ROKETSAN, FNSS, Boeing, and Sikorsky, is both growing with new members and opening doors to new collaborations.
OSSA has recently welcomed 38 more companies with diverse areas of expertise, bringing its total membership to 211. The cluster members employ approximately 7,500 people.
OSSA continues its activities in line with its objectives of increasing the share of domestic production in meeting the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces, enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs in the defense industry in national and international markets, creating preferred sub-suppliers through increasing collaborations and developing capabilities, and opening up to international markets with final products.
