SSB, the main actor in our country's success story in the defense and aerospace sector, has established its first liaison office in an organized industrial zone in OSTİM.
The office, which opened its doors following the signing of a cooperation protocol between SSB and OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone, is expected to provide a significant boost to domestic production and SMEs.
The cooperation protocol was signed by the Head of the Defence Industry, Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, the Chairman of the OSTİM Board of Directors, Orhan Aydın, and the Chairman of the OSTİM Defence and Aerospace Cluster (OSSA) Board of Directors, Mithat Ertuğ.
Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir stated that a more effective working environment will be created with the opening of the liaison office in OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone.
“We are aware of your valuable work”
OSTİM Board Chairman Orhan Aydın stated that SSB (Undersecretariat of Defense Industries) executives are constantly in contact with OSTİM and its SMEs. Emphasizing that they highly value the work done by the Presidency, Aydın said, “We are aware that they have very valuable work both in deepening the industrialization of SMEs and in reflecting our country's industrialization policies in our region. We are persistently trying to explain these examples to other public units and ministries.”
“We are at your service 24/7 in the defense of our country”
Pointing out that the successes in the defense industry should be implemented in other sectors as well, Orhan Aydın continued his speech as follows: “As a region, we are at your service 24/7 in the defense of our country, not only in the defense industry but also in other industrial areas, through the clustering activities we carry out. At the same time, having a liaison office of the Presidency of the Defense Industry in our region is very valuable for us in terms of making this service effective and local. We believe it is an important interface that our industrialists can easily access and meet with the Presidency of the Defense Industry. We see that it is being used very effectively. All our resources are at your disposal to host the liaison office. I hope that this protocol will bring benefits to our country, our companies, our region, and our nation.”
“A more efficient working environment will be created”
The Head of the Defense Industry, Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, stated that they are working closely with OSTİM and that the protocol will make the work more organized and easier.
Stating that OSTİM has gone beyond its industrial zone structure, President Demir said, “On one hand, OSTİM has moved towards a structure that can create much more effectiveness and synergy with the university, technopark, and our industrialists. Here, it is important to evaluate the design, production, and integration capabilities of the companies, to raise awareness, and what I want to emphasize constantly is that the industrial ecosystem as a whole should reach a certain point and a certain level, and that we have companies serving multidisciplinary fields. A more effective working environment will be created with our liaison office.”
“Our desire is for domestic production and national design in all sectors”
Ismail Demir emphasized that technological infrastructure and capabilities can make valuable contributions not only to the defense sector but also to other sectors of industry.
Demir stated: “Of course, our desire is to have domestic production and national designs in all other sectors. Analyzing the models applied to the defense industry, highlighting their successful aspects, discussing and addressing any shortcomings, and creating new models are important.”
“Let our activities here serve as a model”
Commenting on the opening of a liaison office in OSTİM, İsmail Demir said, “With the close cooperation and collaborative environment we will establish here, the number and variety of our projects in the defense industry will increase. By raising awareness of various capabilities related to a number of subsystems and sub-products, we will delve deeper into our localization activities and ensure that our localization rates are increased even further.”
We have not neglected the contributions of other companies and other Organized Industrial Zones in the defense industry ecosystem, such as OSTİM. While we are giving OSTİM preferential treatment here, I would like to state that our doors and hearts are open to all our industrialists, that all of Turkey's capabilities should be used in the field, and that we will continue to accelerate in this way. In that respect, I say let our activities here be a model. Success should be appreciated, and hopefully we will apply a similar model to other sectors, regions, clusters, and provinces.
