The OSSA Defence and Aerospace Cluster, operating under the Undersecretariat of Defence Industry and within the scope of the URGE Project of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Turkey, participated in the ILA Berlin Air Show, held in Berlin, Germany, between May 19-25, 2014, with 16 companies. At the fair, where Turkey participated as the "Official Partner Country," OSSA member companies had the opportunity to meet with leading companies in the defence and aerospace sector under one roof.
The opening of the ILA Fair was attended by German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Lütfi Elvan. The OSSA stand, which was also visited by the German Minister of Defence and the German Minister of Transport, attracted significant interest from high-level delegations from Germany and around the world.
Undersecretary of Defence Industry Mr. İsmail Demir, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Berlin Mr. Hüseyin Avni Karslıoğlu, and former Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Customs Mr. Kürşat Tüzmen also visited the stand of OSSA Defence and Aerospace Cluster and its members, and met with the companies.
At the fair, where major industrial firms such as TAI, HAVELSAN, TURKISH AIRLINES, ROKETSAN, TÜBİTAK, and FİGES represented the Turkish defense and aerospace sector and held bilateral business meetings, the OSSA Delegation also attended various civil and military demonstrations held simultaneously in the same location. Hosting participants from 40 countries and approximately 227,000 visitors from various sectors, the fair offered sector firms the opportunity to increase their visibility in the international market and develop business relationships.
