OSSA and its 12 member companies (Alkan Makina, Arıtes Metal, Digitest Dijital, Dora Makina, Gökser Makina, Mak Savunma, Med Makina, Mege Teknik, Küçükpazarlı Havacılık, Savtek Bilişim, Tolga Plastik, 2G Havacılık), as well as M. Emrah Sazak and M. Emrah Soğancı, Heads of the SME and Clustering Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Turkey, were present at the OSSA stand at the MSPO Fair.
The fair, jointly opened by Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and Turkish Minister of National Defence İsmet Yılmaz, saw Minister Yılmaz hold bilateral meetings with the Polish President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. A Mehter (Ottoman military band) team, specially brought from Turkey, gave concerts during the event. At the awards ceremony held on the last day of the fair, the Undersecretariat of Defence Industry stand received the "Kielce Trade Fair Special Award," and the OSSA Ostim Defence Industry Cluster stand received the "Original and Innovative Design Special Award." According to the "Successful Defence Industry Project" evaluations conducted by a jury composed of Polish executives, the participating companies' products were assessed in terms of defense technologies, and HAVELSAN was awarded the "DEFENDER" Special Award for its GENESIS (Integrated Combat Management System Modernization of Perry-Class Frigates) Project. In his closing speech, the Polish Deputy Minister expressed his satisfaction with the intensive bilateral cooperation developed with Turkey in the field of defence industry over the past year, stating that they consider the Turkish defence industry a model and are following Turkey with admiration and excitement. More than 400 companies participated in the MSPO Defence Industry Fair, where Turkey participated as the "Leading Country".
The OSSA Cluster, which maintains close ties with the Undersecretariat of Defense Industry of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Turkey, successfully showcased the strong presence of SMEs within the Turkish defence and aerospace industry at the MSPO Fair in Poland. Koray Akgüloğlu, the Polish Trade Counselor, visited the OSSA Defence and Aerospace Cluster stand and received information about the OSSA Cluster member SMEs, the OSSA URGE Project, and the second Ankara Defence and Aerospace Industrial Cooperation Days Program (ICDDA), to be held from October 14-16, 2014.
Koray Akgüloğlu, the Chief Commercial Counselor of Poland, congratulated us on bringing buyers from world-renowned companies such as EADS, EADS Sogerma, MBDA, LATECOER, AERAZUR ZODIAC, BOEING, AVIO, EATON, Torino Piemonte Aerospace, Plansee Tungsten Alloys, Goldon, Agora Consulting, Aerospace Valley, Blufield, and UBIFRANCE to Ankara as part of the Ankara Cooperation Days; enabling SMEs to establish new business networks and collaborations with local and international companies; promoting Turkish defense and aerospace sub-industry firms; and our efforts as the OSSA Cluster to develop the sub-industry in Turkey and increase exports.
