ICDDA WILL BE TURKEY'S FIRST HYBRID EVENT IN THE FIELDS OF DEFENSE, AVIATION, AND SPACE…

With a rate of 21.92 registered bilateral business meetings per participating company, the Industrial Cooperation Days in Defense and Aerospace (ICDDA), organized by the OSTİM Defense and Aerospace Cluster (OSSA), which is one of the leading events in the world, will once again break new ground by bringing together SMEs, main industry firms, institutions and organizations with officials from leading companies and institutions in the world, this time in a “hybrid” event.

The ICDDA event, held every two years with the aim of meeting the right people and initiating new collaborations in the dynamic environment of the defense, aviation, and space sector, and which will feature both virtual and in-person bilateral business meetings (B2B), will open its doors in Ankara between October 13-15, 2020.

PANELS AND B2B MEETINGS

*ICDDA 2020 will feature a series of panels moderated by experienced professionals on topics such as civil aviation, land-sea-air systems, homeland security technologies, and supply chain development. These panels will be attended by over 2,000 people, including military, defense, and commercial attachés from many countries in Turkey, government officials, end-users, and representatives from domestic and international companies. In addition, international participants who cannot attend in person will contribute to the panels virtually. The panels will address innovations in the sector; and discuss the problems and solutions facing the sector.

ICDDA 2020 will contribute to the Turkish economy and sectoral development by bringing together our sectoral SMEs, main industrial firms, and institutions/organizations with foreign companies and institutions in order to revive production and workforce that have declined during the pandemic process, which has affected our country as well as the whole world.

Buyers and supply chain managers who wish to attend the event but are experiencing flight difficulties due to the pandemic will have the opportunity to organize digital meetings by scheduling appointments in advance with ICDDA participants through the “Virtual Matching and B2B Meeting” platform.*

This will ensure that buyers who cannot travel due to the pandemic can also participate in the ICDDA event, thus providing a greater-than-expected contribution to the collaboration and export efforts of the participating companies.

The fourth ICDDA event, held from October 23-25, 2018, brought together over 2,000 participants from 60 countries, 260 companies and institutions, and resulted in 5,700 registered bilateral business meetings. Many international institutions and companies participated in the event, including: Airbus, Azerbaijan Ministry of Defence Industry, BAE Systems, United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, Boeing, Brazilian Air Force, CERN, Dassault Systems, International Group for Security and Safety (IGSS) Kuwait, Korea Aerospace Industries, Leonardo, Qatar Armed Forces, Lockheed Martin, MBDA, Mexico Femia, NATO/NSPA, Navantia, Pakistan Air Force, PTC, Rolls Royce, Sikorsky, Stelia, Ukroboronprom, Thales, and Thyssenkrupp. In addition, major contractors from within Turkey, such as Aselsan, Baykar, BMC, FNSS, Havelsan, Kale Aviation, Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKEK), Otokar, Roketsan, STM, TEI, THY Teknik, and Turkish Aerospace Industries, also participated in the event. Furthermore, AFAD, Ankara Development Agency, Ministry of National Defence (MSB) General Directorate of Military Factories, MSB General Directorate of Shipyards, Ankara Chamber of Industry, Ankara Chamber of Commerce, Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK), State Supply Office, General Directorate of Security, KOSGEB, Defense and Aerospace Industry Exporters Association,, TOBB, TÜBİTAK, SaSaD were among the domestic institutions that took part in the event.

For the ICDDA event, which will take place between October 13-15, 2020, meetings have been held with many leading companies and organizations in the sector both in Turkey and worldwide, and preliminary participation confirmations have been received. The vast majority of foreign officials contacted regarding participation in the event stated that they preferred to hold "face-to-face" meetings, while those who could not arrange their flights indicated that they could hold "virtual" meetings.

The fact that virtual meetings will also be held as part of the fifth ICDDA event will lead to an increase in bilateral business meetings and the number of participating companies, and reach a wider audience in terms of potential collaborations compared to previous events.

SSB AWARD-WINNING ORGANIZATION

The ICDDA event, held every two years, has earned the President of the Republic of Turkey's Defence Industry Directorate (SSB) the "Defense Industry Special Award" in 2014 and the "Defense Industry Promotion Special Award" in 2017, due to its success and contributions to the sector resulting from productive business meetings held at the event with purchasing and supply chain officials from abroad.

WE ACT WITH A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS OUR STAKEHOLDERS AND PARTICIPANTS.

In these times when normalization processes have begun in almost all parts of the world, as the ICDDA organization, we are rapidly continuing our efforts to ensure that the event is held in a healthy and productive manner by taking all the necessary precautions deemed necessary by the Turkish Ministry of Health for the valuable officials of our companies and institutions, our stakeholders, and our foreign guests who will be attending the event in person.
