At the opening ceremony and conference of the Turkish National Aviation Industry Development Program, held on November 28, 2017, Boeing officials announced that they had begun working with our OSSA members, Gür Metal, Yepsan, and Yüksel Kompozit.
Boeing officials, noting that working with Boeing is not easy, emphasized the importance of AS9100 quality certifications and other certifications, and stated that they pay attention to many factors such as companies' long-term investment plans, financial strength, and the size of the companies' locations.
Boeing officials stated that they will be establishing long-term collaborations in areas such as maintenance and repair, certification, training, and supply chain management; and that through projects that can be carried out jointly with the Industrial Competence Assessment and Support Program (EYDEP), they can contribute to the development and institutionalization of SMEs.
Speaking at the event, OSSA Coordinator Ece UMAY stated that, thanks to the support of the Turkish Ministry of Economy's URGE Project, implemented by OSSA since 2012, over 50 of its members have received AS 9100 certification. Furthermore, OSSA, which has participated in the aviation fair in Seattle with its member SMEs and organized a visit to the Boeing factory with a team of 50 people, also brought together Boeing officials with SMEs at the Industrial Cooperation Days in Defence and Aerospace (ICDDA) event held in Ankara in 2013, 2014, and 2016.
Our companies Gür Metal, Yepsan, and Yüksel Kompozit have reaped the rewards of their 3-4 years of hard work. We congratulate them on their success.
OSSA continues its efforts to enable other member SMEs to also participate in this process.
